Friedrich Schiller University Jena is seeking to fill a position as
Professor (W2) in Film Studies with focus on Visual Aesthetics of Filmic Media
starting on October 1, 2017.
The successful candidate will be expected to cover the field of film studies with a focus on visual aesthetics of cinematic media in both research and teaching. He/she will have expertise in the area of visual aesthetics of filmic media. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be expected to develop a systematic research agenda concerning the aesthetics of filmic media and to contribute to the establishment of national and international academic cooperations.
With regard to teaching, the successful candidate will focus on aesthetic questions and expand its area of subject matters to all kinds of moving image – especially within the visual arts. He/she will be expected to teach at undergraduate and graduate level within the framework of the following courses: »Art History and Film Studies« (B.A., M.A.), »Literature – Art – Culture« (M.A.).
The successful candidate is expected to closely collaborate with faculty members in the field of art history and within interdisciplinary research areas. Experience in attracting external funding and grants as well as in cooperating with national and international partners is desirable.
Applicants must hold a PhD and postdoctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or equivalent academic merits in the field of Film and Media Studies as well as pedagogical qualifications through prior teaching experience.
