The University of Wuppertal invites applications for a

Professorship (§ 36 HG NRW) for Educational Science with a focus on Social Pedagogy/Youth and Society

(legal basis: W 2 LBesG NRW).

The position will be based in the School of Human and Social Science.

The position is to be taken up as soon as possible.

Duties and requirements

  • You are an expert in three of the following five areas
    • Research on youth welfare
  • Research on users/addressees of social services
  • Political youth education
  • Institutionalization of education and upbringing
  • Social, political, cultural and societal conditions of education and upbringing
  • You are internationally networked and have experience in raising third-party funding
  • We expect committed participation in educational and interdisciplinary research contexts both within and outside the Institute of Educational Science and the School of Human and Social Sciences.
  • You teach in the educational science part of the Two-subject Bachelor degree courses as well as in the educational science master's and teacher training programmes. You make an active contribution to the further development of an attractive portfolio of courses. You are open to modern teaching methods.

Formal requirements

  • Completed university degree or university of applied sciences degree in educational sciences.
  • Special aptitude for academic work, usually demonstrated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate, desirably on a topic relevant to the advertised position.
  • Additional academic achievements in the context of a (junior) professorship, a habilitation or academic work as a research assistant at a university or research institution, scientific positions in business, or other occupations in Germany or abroad when appointed to a first professorship.
  • Pedagogical aptitude, which is proven by appropriate previous experience or, exceptionally, demonstrated by excellent performance in the appointment procedure.

You are able to demonstrate your qualification for the position by publications in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals, international orientation (e.g. research abroad, international collaborations) and the independent acquisition and management of third-party-funded projects.
