Join a motivated, innovative team dedicated to providing safe and humane husbandry, technical and research support for a variety of laboratory animals to promote the study and mitigation of infectious diseases. Receive unique biocontainment training with opportunities for continuing education and growth. Will perform these duties at Bio Safety Levels 2, 3 & 4.
This full-time role will support COVID-19 research at the National Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratories (NEIDL), which is supporting an increasing number of federally funded coronavirus projects. These positions within the animal core are vital to ongoing experiments and future research efforts, including disease modeling and testing of therapeutics and vaccines.
The NEIDL RSS provides care for animals and carries out duties in support of animal research studies, in the high and maximum biocontainment laboratories at the National Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratories (NEIDL), Boston University. At least 1 year of direct experience and training as veterinary technician and relevant job experience.
The National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories (NEIDL) is part of a national network of secure facilities that study infectious diseases – whether they occur naturally or are introduced deliberately through bioterrorism. The NEIDL is dedicated to the development of diagnostics, vaccines and therapeutics to combat emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. In addition to Bio Safety Level (BSL)-2 and BSL-3 laboratories, the NEIDL houses BSL-4 laboratories that will operate at the highest level of containment. The NEIDL will add to the growing life sciences industry in the region, throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and across the country.
