The Department of Materials (www.mat.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich invites applications for the above-mentioned position.
We are searching for excellent candidates to develop a world-leading research program in robotic materials, i.e. new materials with properties that enhance robotic functionality. The assistant professorship will represent the focus of an extensive ETH collaborative network, involving colleagues engaged in robotics and the human-robot interface in other departments. The successful candidate has an outstanding research record in either soft or hard materials, with a strong focus on applications, ideally in robotics. At the assistant professor level, commitment to teaching and the ability to lead a research group are expected. The new assistant professor must be an enthusiastic teacher, who will develop and teach courses in the Materials curriculum.
Assistant professorships have been established to promote the careers of younger scientists. ETH Zurich implements a tenure track system equivalent to other top international universities. While this position is primarily intended to be at the Assistant Professor level, in exceptional cases applications at the Full Professor level will also be considered.
