YOUR TASKS

You will work on various research projects on data analysis and development of computational models for protein design. Your specific tasks include:

  • Conduct state-of-the-art research on the application of machine learning, hyperdimensional computing, and quality diversity algorithms to the analysis of naturally occurring proteins.
  • Develop and implement innovative computational models to derive design rules from biological sequences and experimental data.
  • Utilize these design rules to predict and understand the relationship between these sequences, their characteristics, and resulting behaviors.
  • You will collaborate closely with external project partners.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a PhD in bioscience engineering, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field.
  • You possess a strong foundation in machine learning and evolutionary algorithms.
  • You have experience with data analysis, bioinformatic processing techniques, and protein structure-function relationships.
  • You are proficient in programming languages such as Julia, Python, or R.
  • You demonstrate a keen interest in applying computational methods to solve biological problems.
  • You have a proven track record of conducting independent research and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • You are fluent in English, both spoken and written, and you are comfortable presenting your research to a variety of audiences.
  • You are a motivated and dedicated researcher with a strong desire to contribute to the advancement of de novo design.
  • You are a quick learner and are able to conduct independent research

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a contract of a 15 Months duration for 80% employment as postdoctoral researcher.
  • Your contract will start on 1/10/2024 at the earliest.
  • Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale PD1 to PD4. Click here for more information about our salary scales.
