YOUR TASKS

  • We are seeking a highly motivated part-time research assistant to support a project exploring the intersection of literature, art, and social dynamics in the context of contemporary technological changes. The role involves assisting in the investigation of how reading and writing practices evolve in a digital and globalized world, with particular attention to the performative nature of texts. The ideal candidate will engage with theoretical frameworks surrounding authorship, readership, and the collaborative creation of meaning in literary and artistic works. Tasks include literature reviews, data collection, and initiating publications that examine how artistic and literary expressions can performatively influence broader cultural and social orientations.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a Master’s degree in Literary Studies, preferably including work in literary theory.
  • You have a demonstrable affinity with artistic expression.
  • You possess strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • You have experience writing papers of an academic level.
  • Your English is at C2 level.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a part-time contract (30%) of definite duration for a one-year period from 14 October 2024 until 13 October 2025.
  • Your contract will start on 14/10/2024 at the earliest.
  • Your remuneration will be determined pro rata (30%) by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (for which a Master’s degree is a prerequisite).  Click here for more information about our salary scales.
  • All Ghent University staff members enjoy a number of benefits, such as a wide range of training and education opportunities, 36 days of holiday leave (on an annual basis for a full-time job) supplemented by annual fixed bridge days, bicycle allowance and eco vouchers.
