The GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies / Leibniz-Institut für Globale und Regionale Studien is an independent social science research institute based in Hamburg. It analyses political, social, and economic developments in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, and links this knowledge to questions of global significance. It combines region-specific analysis with innovative comparative research on accountability and participation, growth and development, peace and security, and power and ideas. The GIGA seeks to hire a
to take on specific tasks in the research project “Religion, Konflikt und nachhaltiger Frieden” (“Religion, Conflict, and Sustainable Peace”), starting March or April 2019. The position is planned for seven months as a part-time position with 75 % of a full-time position. Other part-time options will be considered, if so desired by the successful candidate. The salary is commensurate with TV-AVH / TVöD EG 13. The position can be prolonged by approx. two months for participation in field experiments in Global South countries. Some physical presence in Hamburg will be required; but mobile work (e.g., working from home) will often be possible.
The successful candidate will
· Experience in and/or ambition to publish peer reviewed scholarly articles
· Experience/interest in Peace and Conflict Studies as well as experimental studies is an asset
