Applications are invited for a part-time (75 %) position, with a contract of 30 months, starting preferably 1 March 2019. The position is designed for further professional qualification as defined in § 2 WissZeitVG (Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act). The salary is commensurate with TV-AVH / TVöD EG 13.
The successful candidate will work as part of the project “Large-Scale Land Acquisitions, Rural Change and Social Conflict (LARCC)”, funded by the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented in cooperation with the University of Osnabrück (Prof. Alexander De Juan). The project investigates the socio-economic effects of large-scale land acquisitions with a focus on social conflict. While it takes into account the immediate effects of land deals on repression and resistance, it also considers the medium- to long-term implications of land deals, emphasizing the intervening role of inequality and institutions. The project relies on a nested mixed-methods research design that combines quantitative and qualitative approaches and focuses on developing world regions with a high incidence of large-scale land acquisitions: West Africa and South East Asia.
