Faculty Position in Media and Communications / Media and communication management

(effective from August 2024) 

Position Summary

KIMEP University, College of Social Sciences, Department of Media and Communications, invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant professor or Associate Professorial level in Media and Communications / Public Relations. The position is a three-year full-time academic appointment to begin on August 16, 2024. Responsibilities include teaching, research, scholarly activities, advising, field liaison and service. 

We are looking for a talented teacher and innovative scholar who is actively engaged in research and enthusiastic about teaching bachelor and master students. We are looking for a productive and cooperative colleague who will bring new perspectives to the subject's theory, research, and practice.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Communication (Public Relations), or another relevant field focusing on media and communication management from an internationally recognized, accredited university. Applicants should have at least 3-5 years of teaching experience in reputable universities and extensive professional experience in managing strategic communications - public relations, advertising service marketing. ABD’s will be considered who meet the position qualifications and include in their application materials a letter from the dissertation chair confirming defense date prior to the position’s start date.

 Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate will be able to cover teaching obligations in media management, platforms, and media business models (business), communication research, and strategic communications and teach marketing data analytics courses for media and communications students. Applicants must have a PhD in Communication (Public Relations) or a related subject. 

The College of Social Sciences

The College of Social Science has a faculty of 25 full-time and ten part-time faculty members and three dedicated administrative staff. Apart from the Department of Media and Communications, the College includes the departments of Economics, Public Administration and International Relations and Regional Studies.

Compensation

Rank and salary are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Compensation after ­tax compares favorably with net salaries in western countries.

Limited on campus housing is available to rent or help in finding off campus housing In addition to salary, a benefit package includes basic healthcare insurance, reduced tuition rates for KIMEP courses, and subsidy for relocation allowance. New faculty members are provided with a reduced teaching schedule during the first semester. Summer paid teaching is typically available.

The salary will be subject to deduction of taxes (10% Personal Income tax in general) as required by the Law of Kazakhstan.
