Research fellow in physiotherapy

Research fellow in physiotherapy affiliated to the project Overvektsbehandling og hverdagsliv – barns erfaringer (‘overweight treatment and daily life – children’s experiences’).

There is a vacancy for a research fellow in a fixed-term position at the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Department of Physiotherapy in the field of physiotherapy.

The research fellowship period is full-time for three years without teaching obligations / required duties. A period of four years in 75 % of a full-time position may also be an alternative. This will be decided when the appointment is made.

Extensive research activity is conducted in the department, and several research groups have been established. The Faculty of Health Sciences has two PhD programmes, and this research fellowship is affiliated to the PhD programme in Health Sciences.

Admission to the PhD Programme in Health Sciences is a precondition for taking up the position. More information about the application for admission to the PhD programme will be provided in the appointment process.

The position will be affiliated to the research group '(Re)habilitation – Individuals, Services and Society’ on the project Overvektsbehandling og hverdagsliv – barns erfaringer (‘Overweight treatment and daily life – children's experience’).

The PhD programme has a qualitative design where both interviews and participatory observation will be employed. The research problems focus on the significance of physical activity and food before, during and after participating in interdisciplinary, family-based treatment options.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have

  • a master's degree in health sciences, physiotherapy (120 credits/ECTS) or equivalent education
  • a bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy
  • experience of using qualitative research methods at master’s degree level (can be in connection with the master's thesis)
  • knowledge of / experience of phenomenology (phenomenology of the body)
  • experience of / interest in work with children and young people, and an interest in the topics of overweight and lifestyle changes
  • experience of writing long papers and possibly articles
  • experience of interaction/communication with children and young people, preferably clinical experience or other relevant experience
  • The applicant must understand and be able to speak and write a Scandinavian language or English

We are looking for a candidate with

  • interest and motivation for the topic of the PhD thesis
  • a deep interest and motivation for research and development of new knowledge
  • good cooperation skills
  • the ability to work independently and in a focused manner over time with work involving analytical skills and writing
  • an interest in and the ability to communicate with children and young people

The salary for the position is in accordance with the pay scale for state employees, position code 1017, currently starting at NOK 449,400 for the first year. The salary will increase to NOK 480,600 during the research fellowship period.
