Environmental Science is a broad interdisciplinary research subject that examines societal interactions with natural values, processes and resources. Environmental Science covers the study of ecological, climatic and other natural processes that affect ecosystems over space and time, human-induced environmental problems, and environmental policy, governance and sustainability challenges. Knowledge in both natural and social sciences is necessary for the understanding of environmental, and more broadly, sustainability challenges.

Job description
This post-doctoral research fellowship is funded by the Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies and are located within the CLIM-SCAPE project: Climate change mitigation capacity of the Baltic coastal seascape: identification of hotspot environments for coastal blue carbon sequestration and guidance for sustainable management of the Baltic coastal landscapes under global change (CLIM-SCAPE). The postdoc will focus on understanding political, social and socio-ecological aspects of multiple coastal habitats’ carbon sink functions (i.e. carbon stock levels, carbon accumulation rates and greenhouse gas exchange) across the land-sea continuum. Further reading about the project, see here .The project will be conducted using an international and transdisciplinary research team. 

As a participant in this multidisciplinary project, the post-doctoral research fellow will focus on the WP5, Policy guidance and governance of Baltic coastal seascapes for climate mitigation. The overall aim of WP5 is to formulate policy recommendations for a just and sustainable climate governance, and to create a lasting platform for dialogue with policy- and decision-makers within the private and public sectors as well as with civil society. 

The duties of a postdoctoral research fellow primarily include research, but may also include the development of research activities and participation in the academic community through assignments as reviewer, external expert and lecturer. Some teaching may be included in these duties, but at no more than 20 per cent of the total level of employment. 

Administrative duties may also occur (such as organization of seminars, workshops and conferences, and planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of transdisciplinary research projects ). Teaching is conducted in Swedish and English.
