The WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF is part of the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL and thus of the ETH Domain. WSL focuses on the sustainable use and protection of the environment and on the handling of natural hazards. WSL employs approximately 600 people, of whom 140 work at SLF in Davos.

Are you interested in combining software development and machine learning for real-world applications? Join our team to support us in developing new software to test and enhance avalanche detection systems and to further develop the White Risk platform. Your primary tasks will include establishing a robust data processing workflow on an SLF server to monitor system health and data quality, and implementing existing machine learning models for near real-time avalanche detection. In addition, you will explore how machine learning methods can be used to improve the White Risk platform. Finally, you will plan and implement innovative solutions to streamline workflows and enhance system efficiency.
