FAST-Lab at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences is led by Prof. Jose L. Martinez Lastra and is part of the Unit of Automation Technology and Mechanical Engineering. The objective of FAST-Lab is the seamless knowledge integration of humans and machines/robots creating smart environments by capitalising the advances on Information and Communication Technologies. FAST-Lab does research in Automation, Industrial Informatics, Industrial Cyberphysical Systems, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. The main application domains for our research are Factory Automation, Healthcare Automation and Smart Mobility building the future Smart Factories, Smart Healthcare and Smart Cities.

Job description
FAST-Lab is looking for 1-3 Research Assistants (preferably MSc thesis student) to work within European research projects.
The work of is mainly composed of following activities: Collaboration activities with the project partners such as participating in teleconference meetings and workshops, to develop the required software modules. The development includes architecture review, computer programming, and software testing. The positions provide the candidates the opportunity to enhance their software development skills as well as their communication skills. We also appreciate a positive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies on the job. Furthermore, the positions will provide the possibility for the students leading to their MSc thesis work.

The positions will be part-time/full-time, and they will be filled for a fixed term until summer/autumn 2025, or as mutually agreed upon both parties. The expected starting date is in January 2025, or as mutually agreed upon by both parties. A trial period of maximum half of the duration of the employment applies.
The salary will be based on both the job demands and the employee's personal performance in accordance with the University Salary System. The position of Research Assistant is placed on the job demand level 1 (the demand level chart for the teaching and research staff). In addition, employees will receive performance-based salary. Typical salary for a research assistant is 2100- 2400 e/month.
