A 100 % position as a PhD Research Fellow in Sustainable Business Model is available at the University of Agder, School of Business and Law. The position is affiliated to the Department of Management with a duration of three years, or four years with 25% required duties. The position is at present located at Campus Kristiansand. The starting date is September 2020.
The School of Business and Law, which is an AACSB-accredited business school, is organised in four departments. The Department of Management is located at Campus Kristiansand and has for the time being 18 permanent employees, 27 PhD- and Post-doctoral Research Fellows, in addition to affiliated professor II positions. Considerable research activity within the broad area of organisation and management is taking place at the department.
The position is connected to the subject area of Sustainable Business Model Innovation. Humanity is facing global challenges like inequality and climate changes. The economic system, and especially businesses’ myopia are considered to be a part of the problem. At the same time, firms are also identified as part of the solution. It is required that firms utilise new technology and develop new business models that are sustainable. The successful candidate will conduct research to understand how firms can develop business models that create and realise social and environmental value, as defined in the UN’s sustainability goals, in addition to economic returns. Research on sustainable business model innovation is an emerging field. Thus, there are opportunities to define and address various research questions related to the theme. It is desirable that the research should primarily take a qualitative approach.
A prerequisite for employment is that the candidate is to be admitted to UiA’s PhD programme at the School of Business and Law.

The position is remunerated according to the State Salary Scale, salary plan 17.515, code 1017 PhD Research Fellow, NOK 479 600 gross salary per year. A compulsory pension contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund is deducted from the pay according to current statutory provisions.
