The University of Bayreuth is a research-oriented university with internationally competitive, interdisciplinary focus areas in research and teaching. The Faculty of Languages & Literatures at the University of Bayreuth is currently seeking to appoint a
at salary grade W3 to commence as soon as possible. This is a permanent civil service position.
Apart from fulfilling duties related to teaching and research, the holder of the position will also act as the academic director of Iwalewahaus. In terms of governance structure, s/he will work together closely with the managing art director of the house. S/he will be responsible for developing future strategies for curating and enhancing the collection (contemporary arts and African modernism) and the acquisition of third-party funding. S/he will also collaborate with colleagues and institutions on the African continent and in the African diaspora to further develop and expand fellowship- and artist-in-residence-programmes at Iwalewahaus. The professorship participates in the realization of transdisciplinary research projects in the context of the Africa Multiple Cluster of Excellence and/or the Research Centre on Society, Technology and Ecology in Africa at the University of Bayreuth, contributes to the conceptualization and implementation of inclusive and intersectional art exhibition strategies and projects, and engages in interdisciplinary cooperation in the Faculty of Languages & Literatures (especially Musicology, Theater Studies, and Media Studies).
