The Department of Physical Chemistry advertises a part-time position (50% of the full contract) for a Senior Lecturer to replace a person on parental leave. The Department is strongly involved in organizing and teaching. It also takes the main share of teaching "Mathematics for Chemists" in Bachelor and Teacher Training. It is possible to align the salary to the standards of the general Job market.
The position is vacant for the period of absence of a member of staff.
Duration of employment: 6 month/s
Extent of Employment: 20.0 hours/week, which include a teaching assignment of 12 hours instructive teaching on a average per semester.
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
The successful applicant will independently teach and participate in courses within the topics of Physical Chemistry, mainly by supervising students (lab courses, practical courses, proseminars). Aside of teaching, those tasks also comprise preparing and wrapping up those courses as well as organizing and managing teaching.
Graduation in Chemistry (MSc, Diplom), preferably specialized in Physical Chemistry or related topics is required. This extends to the corresponding experimental techniques, especially in the topics of physicochemical characterization of materials (eg. conductivity measurement, thermophysical characteristics), chemical reaction kinetics and its tracking with different methods like spectroscopy and conductivity and also in the field of electrochemistry. Also required is the knowledge of thermodynamics. Previous experience in teaching - especially in Physical Chemistry - is required. A proper use of subject-specific evaluation software like Origin, LabView, is required.
