In the new "futureFlexPro" project, the Fraunhofer Project Center Wolfsburg - together with the Fraunhofer IAO - is developing modularizable solutions for sustainable, functionally integrated components of future vehicle generations, taking a holistic circular economy into account. Furthermore, a consistent economic, ecological and technological evaluation is carried out in the context of market and sales scenarios. In addition to the entire vehicle interior, the focus is also on the design of battery module construction for electrically powered vehicles.
All research results are also to be transferred to other sectors, such as rail vehicles or ships, as well as to hydrogen propulsion.
Together with the Fraunhofer Institutes IAO and ICT, the Fraunhofer Project Center Wolfsburg has developed a visionary vehicle concept: "Vision PI". Here, a durable vehicle structure can dock flexible onto various mobility modules: from passenger car platforms, urban air mobility, Hyperloop solutions to interactive VR lounges. Depending on the intended application and the needs of the passengers, the interior is designed flexibly and individually. In addition to smart surfaces in the interior, the concept also envisions the use of renewable raw materials as well as materials with optimal recyclability.
