Professorship (W 3) Didaktik der Biologie

The University of Wuppertal invites applications for a professorship in “Didaktik der Biologie”. The position will be based in the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. We are looking for an outstanding personality who will continuously develop this area in research and teaching.

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS

• You can demonstrate sound research in the context of the job profile as well as the successful acquisition of corresponding third-party funding.
• In teaching, you represent the subject didactics of biology in its entirety as well as teaching of human biology and related sub-disciplines.
• You manage, organise and actively further develop the programmes for Kombinatorischer Bachelor Biologie (GymGe/HRSGe), Bachelor of Education Biologie Sonderpädagogik, Master of Education Biologie (GymGe/HRSGe, Berufskolleg, Bilingual (english), Sonderpädagogik), BEd and MEd Sachunterricht Schwerpunkt NaWiTech (Grundlagen der Naturwissenschaft und Technik) and other future degree programmes in the subject area.
• You will manage and organise the student laboratory and the associated teaching and research.
• You will contribute to the Wuppertal focus area "Sustainable Chemistry and Biology for Humans and the Environment" and are expected to collaborate with groups in the Chemistry and Biology departments, other Schools within the university or external research organisations.
• You have German language skills at level C2.
• Your didactic research should focus on current topics, e. g. digitalisation of teaching, bilingual teaching (English language) or other current research topics.
• Experience in academic and study organisation management must be described and ideas for future teaching and research and the curricular development of the above-mentioned degree programmes must be outlined.
• School experience and traineeship are desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Completed degree (university or university of applied sciences) in Biology
• Special aptitude for academic work, usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, a topic relevant to the advertised position is desirable.
• Further relevant scientific achievements performed during a first professorship include junior professorships, habilitations, employment as a research assistant at a university or at a non-university research institution and scientific positions in business, in administration or another social field in Germany or abroad.
• Pedagogical aptitude, which is proven by appropriate previous experience or, exceptionally, demonstrated by excellent performance in the appointment procedure

You are able to demonstrate your qualification for the position by a large number of publications in recognised peer-reviewed journals in the field, relevant teaching experience, and successful acquisition of third-party funding from state or private funding programmes.
