Inorganic Materials and Catalysis

Welcome to our vibrant research group dedicated to catalyzed reactions and a sustainable future. We explore the fascinating world of heterogeneous catalysis and materials design, uncovering the intricate mechanisms behind chemical transformations on catalytic surfaces. Through a combination of synthetic, spectroscopic, computational modeling, and reaction engineering techniques, we aim to strategically design optimal catalytic sites and contribute to renewable energy and eco-friendly chemicals.

Our passionate team, consisting of 4 scientific staff members, including 3 professors and a research fellow, works alongside a supportive technical team of 3 professionals. We foster a collaborative environment that embraces approximately 20 PhD students, postdoctoral research fellows, and master's and bachelor's students, encouraging the generation of impactful insights for societal progress.

Job Description

As a full-time secretary/management assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive support and assistance to the members of our esteemed IMC group in their administrative and organizational endeavors. Acting as the central contact point for our group, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless coordination and smooth operations. English serves as our day-to-day language, offering an international work environment.

Your diverse range of activities will encompass managing and monitoring the agendas of our esteemed staff members, promptly processing incoming emails and taking independent actions when necessary. Additionally, you will be entrusted with preparing meeting agendas and diligently documenting meeting minutes. Composing correspondence, emails, and other written materials, predominantly in English and Dutch, will also be part of your responsibilities. Furthermore, you will excel in arranging and organizing both internal and external appointments, as well as providing support in planning business travel, including processing travel permits and expense claims for all members of our group.

During your day-to-day activities, you will serve as a valuable resource, addressing inquiries from our dedicated staff and students. Welcoming and assisting guests and visitors will also be an integral aspect of your role, which may involve arranging accommodation and facilitating TU/e administrative procedures when necessary. Providing practical information and guidance for guests, visitors, and staff members will contribute to the smooth functioning of our group. Furthermore, you will be entrusted with managing the registration of leave requests, illness reports, and recovery updates through the My TU/e system.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will play a pivotal part in planning, preparing, and supporting group meetings and gatherings, including various social events. Your excellent organizational skills will be crucial in collecting and processing management information, maintaining the group's archive, and staying up to date with personnel and publication registrations through the Pure system. You will also be responsible for managing and updating the internal and external website of our group, ensuring that our online presence accurately reflects our dynamic research endeavors.

Job Requirements

We are looking for an enthusiastic, accurate, pro-active and flexible new colleague with professional proficiency with a preference for a HAVO/VWO background with additional secretarial education and several years of experience in a similar function. We welcome a good organizational, communication and interpersonally skilled person with the ability to establish priorities. A very good command of the English and Dutch language is imperative. Digital proficiency is necessary (good command of Microsoft Office is a must).

Conditions of employment

  • A meaningful job in a dynamic and ambitious university.
  • a fulltime employment.
  • appointment will be for one year, initially with the possibility for a permanent appointment according to performance and unchanged conditions.
  • a salary is offered between € 2.872.- and € 3.809,- gross per month, depending on knowledge and experience (based on salary scale 6/7, CAO of Dutch Universities).
  • Additionally, an annual holiday allowance of 8% of the yearly salary, plus a year-end allowance of 8.3% of the annual salary.
  • A broad package of fringe benefits, including excellent technical infrastructure, moving expenses, and savings schemes.
