YOUR TASKS

  • Actively coaching a group of students in preparation for the Moot Court International Law (Jessup).

  • Analyzing the students’ written and oral preparation, both in terms of content and formal aspects.

  • Attending and providing coaching during the weekly contact sessions, and, where useful, being available for additional meetings with the students (online or in person) as mutually agreed.

  • Attending and coaching during the national rounds of the Jessup Moot Court (end of February, in Brussels).

  • Attending and coaching during the international rounds of the Jessup Moot Court (subject to qualification, in Washington, USA).

  • You provide services to the department.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • You hold a degree of Master in Law. The degree requirement needs to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment

  • For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted

  • You have in-depth knowledge of international law.

  • Experience with the Jessup Moot Court (and/or other international moot courts) is a plus.

  • You are willing to actively coach a group of motivated students, which requires a certain level of flexibility.

  • You have some experience in coaching groups.

  • You work effortlessly and professionally in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.

  • Experience in advocacy is a plus.

  • Professional experience as an international lawyer is a plus.

  • You are interested in scientific and/or project based research and services.

  • Any teaching experience or participation in extra training, conferences, etc. is recommended

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • We offer you a one year appointment, which may be renewed indefinitely every year. Attention: You cannot be appointed for a cumulative percentage of more than 30% as a Teaching Assistant at Ghent University
  • Your appointment will start on 1 October 2025 at the earliest
  • Your remuneration will be determined according to salary scale AAP3. More information about our salary scales
