YOUR TASKS
The successful candidate will conduct research concerning determination of the concentration and spatial distribution of (ultra)trace elements in materials of both biological and synthetic origin using laser ablation – ICP-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS).
The successful candidate will make a significant contribution to the service activities (analyses for third parties using ICP-MS) carried out by the research group.
The successful candidate will supervise the research of less experienced researchers—Bachelor’s and Master’s students, early-stage doctoral students, and visiting researchers.
Reporting under the form of papers in scientific journals, presentations at scientific conferences, and reports intended for external “customers” is also part of the role.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You hold a thesis-based doctorate “Chemistry,” based on research in the field of analytical chemistry.
You have experience conducting research on spatially resolved elemental analysis using laser ablation – ICP-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS), as demonstrated by publications in the international scientific literature.
You are fluent in English. Active knowledge of Dutch is an asset, given the need to communicate with local “clients” for whom analyses are performed and the ICP-MS courses that are organized by the research group on a regular basis.
