YOUR TASKS
- You will assist with the department’s practice-oriented teaching in the field of migration law, in particular with the English-language component of the Migration Law module within the Human Rights and Migration Law Legal Clinic.
- You will supervise Master’s theses in the field of migration law.
- You will contribute to the services provided by the department and the Migration Law Research Group (MigrLaw).
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a degree of Master in Law or an equivalent (Master’s) qualification. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) must be submitted. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
- You are engaged in other professional activities and/or have demonstrable experience that can contribute to the quality of practice-oriented teaching, in this case the Human Rights and Migration Law Legal Clinic. This includes, for example, practical experience as a lawyer or in an NGO.
- You have thorough and demonstrable knowledge in the field of European and international asylum and migration law and policy.
- Familiarity with Belgian asylum and migration law is an advantage.
- Familiarity with human rights is an advantage.
- You are interested in a teaching assignment in the field concerned.
- You are interested in academic and/or project-based research and services.
- Any teaching experience or participation in extra training, conferences, etc. is recommended.
- You have excellent active and passive knowledge (written and spoken) of English; knowledge of Dutch is an advantage.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a one year appointment, which may be renewed indefintely for five years at a time. Attention: You cannot be appointed for a cumulative percentage of more than 30% as a Teaching Assistant at Ghent University.
- Your appointment will start on 1 October 2026 at the earliest.
