You will perform research in the Research Group Databases and Theorerical Computer Science (DBTI, http://alpha.uhasselt.be/research/groups/theocomp/). This Research Group is primarily active in the area of the theory of databases, in the broadest sense of the word. The general theme is the design and development of logical data models and their associated query languages. Recent research topics include Big Data, cloud computing, No SQL, spatial and temporal data, graph data, and geographical information systems. The Group is also active in related aspects of theoretical computer science, formal logic, data mining and artificial intelligence.
The actual choice of the specific topic of the doctoral research is made in common agreement between you and the professors of the Research Group.
You will be appointed and paid as PhD student.
The successful candidate will receive a doctoral scholarship for a period of 2 years, which is extended with another period of 2 years after a positive midterm review (hence, total duration is thus 4 years). The envisaged starting date of the scholarship is October 1 2018.
