The School of Engineering is one of four schools within Jönköping University. The department of Industrial product development, production and design conducts education and research in product development, production development and industrial design. The department is responsible for five educational programmes at Campus in Jönköping. In addition, the department is responsible for two education programmes in Nässjö and Värnamo. The department has a strong engagement in the development of research and education within Knowledge Intensive Product Realisation which is a strategic area at Jönköping University.
The department is looking for a doctoral student in the subject of Production Systems – Agile and Reconfigurable Production Development (applications will be handled on an ongoing basis, whereupon appointments can be made before the last application date).
The aim of the work is to further develop methods and models within Agile and Reconfigurable Production Development. You will work with research in different projects together with your supervisor and other colleagues.
The projects all have industrial partners and the intention is to support manufacturing companies to develop production capabilities so that they more efficiently can offer products and services. Involvement in courses for professionals are also part of the work.
As a doctoral student your work will mainly be research studies and research project work. You normally spend 80% of your time on research education. Other tasks, such as teaching, do not represent more than 20% of the working hours. Teaching on either bachelor level, master level or in courses for professionals are relevant.
To be eligible for the position, you have a Master of Science in Production Systems, Industrial Engineering and Management, Production Development, Integrated Product and Production Development or equivalent.
Due to the international working environment, a good level of the English language, both written and oral, is expected. The ability to speak and write in Swedish is meritorious, as the work is in close collaboration with Swedish companies.
The successful candidate is truly committed, creative and curious. You enjoy collaborations, are capable of actualizing visions and ideas into practically feasible working methods and methodology and you have good communication skills. It is important that you have good analytical and systematical abilities.
It is important that you demonstrate skills to work efficiently, conscientiously and professionally both independently and in a team environment with great responsibility and ability to finish dedicated assignments/tasks on time. Furthermore, you have a flexible work approach, are resilient to external stresses and can manage multiple work tasks simultaneously.
