The overall aim of the Nyberg lab is to develop and use cutting-edge technologies for genetical engineering to enhance T cell therapies of cancer. As part of the Center for Hematology and Regenerative Medicine (HERM) and The Center for Cellular Cancer Therapy (C3T) at the Karolinska Institute, the lab is part of collaborative environments of excellent translational research groups. These centers encompass basic, translational, and clinical principal investigators with a focus on understanding and improving cellular immunotherapies against cancer. We offer an engaging and international research environment where you may contribute to high quality research on an internationally competitive level.
We are looking for postdoctoral researchers to work with T cell therapies and synthetic immunology to join the Nyberg lab and to contribute to the positive environment in the lab.
The use of chimeric antigen receptors (CAR) in T cells has transformed the field of cell therapies for cancers. We have developed cutting-edge technologies to generate precisely engineered CAR-T cells using gene targeting, and new types of adeno-associated viruses (AAV) that allow for T cell specific genetic manipulations. The current goal of the lab is to use these technologies to maximize the potential of CAR-T cell therapies. Recent development in the field has opened up the possibilites to manipulate and genetically enchance T cells in vivo (Nyberg et al., Immunity, 2025). The projects related to this position will focus on applying in vivo gene editing technologies to enhance T cell therapies of cancer.
You will be working in an international and interdisciplinary research environment, where collaborative efforts are encouraged and your development to scientific independence will be fostered.
To build a strong and creative research team, we are looking for high achievers from universities around the world. We will offer an intellectually stimulating environment with prominent guest researchers and we look for talented people who will play a part in developing our next breakthrough ideas. Our aim is to promote independent researchers that will build their careers in science.
