Itec is an interdisciplinary research group of KU Leuven and imec that specializes in personalized and data-driven digital technologies for learning (education and training) and healthcare, based on the Kortrijk campus of KU Leuven.
Within several research projects on AI-supported learning, we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher who will take on a leading role in the educational research lines.

Responsibilities
As a postdoctoral researcher in AI in Education and Training, you’ill play a central role within several research projects on AI-driven learning support.
You will focus on the pedagogical and didactic foundations of AI applications in diverse learning contexts, such as primary and secondary education, higher education, professional education and training. Your areas of activity include:
Helping shape the research agenda
- Actively contributing to the strategic positioning of the research lines within national and European research programmes.
- Conceptualising and writing new research proposals on AI in education and training, in collaboration with other senior researchers and the principal investigators.
Contributing to ongoing projects
- Conducting literature reviews and developing evidence-informed frameworks on the pedagogical use of AI in school-based and non-school learning contexts, with a focus on feedback, self-regulation and competence development.
- Designing and coordinating empirical studies on the impact of AI in education and training, including coaching junior researchers.
- Analysing research data, writing scientific publications and translating findings into practice-oriented tools and guidelines for teachers, education professionals, trainers and Learning & Development specialists.
Profile
- You hold (or are close to completing) a PhD in educational sciences, psychology or a related field.
- You’re excited about AI in education and/or training, learning analytics or educational technology.
- You have strong research and methodological skills.
- You are able to lead research independently and work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- You have an interest in or experience with co-writing research proposals or contributing to the development of future research lines.
- You communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders from education, training and practice.
- You’re fluent in both Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
- You take initiative and are keen to contribute to societal impact through research.

- A full-time, fully funded postdoctoral appointment for one year, with the possibility of extension subject to a positive evaluation and available funding.
- Appointment as a scientific staff member in Salary Scale 44.
