POSITION SUMMARY

The Lecturer is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the University, in disciplines related to their field of expertise in Design Studies. Specifically, the Lecturer is responsible for carrying out teaching activities within the undergraduate program and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research, and/or professional capabilities. The Lecturer is also expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links, and partnerships with academic, industry, and professional communities. The Lecturer is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialization. The Lecturer may be responsible for course coordination and will be expected to teach across a range of courses within the program

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

● Undergraduate teaching including designing, conducting and moderating assessment; implementing improvements informed by peer review, course evaluation and/or student feedback.

●  Professional activities and/or peer-reviewed research activities appropriate to the discipline

●  Initiate and deliver programs to develop the teaching and/or research skills of academic and professional staff.

● Membership of committees, working parties or other service duties as required.

●  Adhere to the Academic Expectations and Development Framework of RMIT Vietnam

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

●  All applicants must have at least a Master’s Degree in an arts or design discipline from a recognized institution.

● For the Associate Lecturer position, the applicant must have 5 years of teaching experience and at least a Master’s Degree in an arts or design discipline from a recognized institution. We may consider an application from an emerging academic who is in the final stages of relevant doctoral study.

●  The applicant must have extensive industry experience and knowledge and skills in teaching design in a Higher Education context. For these tasks, we are looking for an experienced designer and educator, with practice in all aspects of product design, through 3D modeling, rendering, and animation, with a proficiency in software such as Blender, Rhino, 3D Studio Max, After Effects, and any other 3D/motion design tools that would be relevant. A thorough understanding of design workflows, visual storytelling, and digital production pipelines is expected.

●  A broad background in various areas of design, such as visual communication, and working knowledge of the Adobe suite and other key software.

●  Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver programs at the undergraduate level, including online delivery, and the ability to produce high-quality curriculum or program materials.

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS 7.0 (academic, with no skill less than 6.5) (or equivalent, as outlined in the Recruitment, Selection and Onboarding Guidelines). 
For any role, English Language Proficiency may also be proven by showing successful completion of secondary education to a level qualifying to enter university study while being instructed through the medium of English, as per the RMIT University recognised qualification list.

WORK PERMIT

As an expatriate candidate, you will require a work permit to work in Vietnam. To qualify for a work permit you will need (at minimum) a degree in a relevant field to the position and must be able to provide official written confirmation (statement of service) of at least 3 years’ related experience.
