Södertörn University is a higher education institution in Stockholm that conducts education, research, and collaboration for sustainable societal development. We have around 13,500 students, 80 programmes and 340 courses, and we conduct education and research in the humanities, social sciences, technology and natural sciences. The university also offers police education and teacher education with an intercultural profile. A great deal of our research relates to the Baltic Sea region and Eastern Europe. We combine subjects, perspectives, people and experiences, and are worldminded, curious and questioning, searching for surprising syntheses, challenges and development.

Media Technology is an interdisciplinary subject that focuses on the design of interactive media, combining technology and design perspectives with knowledge of human interaction with digital media. Media Technology offers education at Bachelor’s and Master’s levels, in fields such as game design, UX design, media production and user research. Research in the subject at Södertörn covers the design, use, and societal implications of interactive media, with a particular focus on design research and human-computer interaction. Our research is divided into four themes: Games and storytelling; Design and making; Participatory and norm critical design; and Media technology and learning.

The university’s website offers an overview of the subject of Media Technology and our publications.
