The Unit of Administrative Studies (UoAS) at the Faculty of Management and Business is the largest research unit in the field of administrative sciences in Finland. We are looking for an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Public Financial Management (tenure track level 1 - 2). The mission of Public Financial Management is to explore distinct forms of economic rationalism in the modern public sector and in the emerging contexts of hybrid governance, i.e. public-private-civil society interface. As part of UoAS, Public Financial Management combines management and governance of public sector activities with economic principles and accounting models, thus covering the finance, budgeting, decision making, control and evaluation of public sector systems.
The appointee will work at UoAS at the Faculty of Management and Business, and participate in research and teaching of public sector accounting, including financial reporting, auditing and control of public sector entities and systems. Furthermore, the selected person will contribute to the development of the Public Financial Management program as well as the Master’s program on Auditing and Evaluation at the Faculty of Management and Business, in collaboration with other disciplines.
Research-based knowledge of the design and use of public sector accounting systems in Finland and elsewhere is seen as an advantage for the prospective candidate.

We offer
Initial appointment as Assistant Professor or Associate Professor is for five years and subject to successful performance you will become a tenured member of faculty at the end of the first five-year period. You will be supported throughout the five-year period to ease transition to a permanent faculty position. A trial period of six months applies to all our new employees. The appointee is expected to start working on August 1st, 2025.
Salaries are based on the job demands and employees’ personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. The job-demand level of an Assistant Professor is 6 and an Associate Professor 7. The typical starting salary of an Assistant Professor will range between 4600 - 4900 EUR/month and that of an Associate Professor between 5300 - 5700 EUR/month. Higher salaries may be agreed dependent upon experience and/or performance.
