About Our Department: The Einstein Institute of Mathematics at the Hebrew University is a globally recognized center for mathematical research, founded in 1925. It boasts faculty and alumni who have received prestigious awards such as the Abel Prize, Fields Medal, and Wolf Prize. The Institute covers diverse research areas, including algebra, topology, number theory, and dynamical systems, and hosts international postdocs, seminars, and conferences. The Institute actively promotes mathematics through educational outreach and is also known for its thematic years and workshops, organized in partnership with the Israel Institute of Advanced Studies, offering students access to cutting-edge research opportunities.

About Our Research: The Einstein Institute of Mathematics welcomes applications from outstanding international students for its PhD program. The program aims to train the next generation of leading mathematicians, providing a rich environment featuring weekly seminars, specialized lecture series on contemporary mathematical topics, and collaborations with visiting scholars from Israel and abroad.

Job Description: We are seeking motivated PhD candidates interested in pursuing research in all areas of mathematics. The PhD program provides a stimulating academic environment with access to state-of-the-art resources, frequent interactions with leading mathematicians, and participation in international research collaborations.

About Your Supervisor: Dr. Zev Rosengarten is a researcher at the Einstein Institute of Mathematics. His work focuses on number theory, particularly in arithmetic geometry and the study of algebraic groups. Dr. Rosengarten completed his PhD at the University of Chicago and conducted postdoctoral research at Northwestern University. His research explores deep connections between geometry, algebra, and arithmetic.

Your Profile (To excel in this role, we seek candidates with):

  • Master’s degree in mathematics. 
  • Proven experience with advanced mathematical problem-solving and theoretical research.
  • Strong programming skills for computational mathematics or data analysis tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to academic publications or present at international conferences.
