Your Responsibilities

  • Writing a doctoral thesis in literary or cultural studies as part of the FWF project “Digital Shakespeariences: The Intermediality, Affectivity, and Cultural Accessibility of Virtual Shakespeare Performances and Their Paratexts” in the field of English literature and cultural studies at the Department of English Studies and its adjacent Centre for Cultural Studies on this very topic
  • The position includes the opportunity to pursue a doctorate involving collaboration with various universities. A general willingness to undertake shorter research stays abroad is therefore expected
  • Independent publication activity and/or participation in collaborative publications
  • Participation in and assistance with the organization of events as part of the FWF project
  • Close collaboration with the members of the scientific project team
  • Participation in various organizational and administrative duties as required within the project

Your Profile

  • Completed diploma or master’s degree in Literature and/or Cultural Studies, awarded with distinction
  • In-depth knowledge of Shakespeare’s plays as well as an interest in digital media and/or Digital Humanities
  • A strong interest in interdisciplinary and transphilological approaches
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken German and English
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration
  • A strong willingness to be internationally mobile
  • High personal motivation for academic work
  • Ability to work independently and in a goal-oriented manner, demonstrating a high degree of initiative
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational abilities
  • Reliability, creativity, and enthusiasm for academic collaboration

We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 52.865,40 for a fulltime position. An overpayment based on qualification and experience is possible.
