The research group Energy and Materials in Infrastructure and Buildings at the Department of Building sciences in the Faculty of Applied Engineering is looking for a full-time (100%) junior researcher in the field of circular construction and urban mining.
Position
- You will work actively on a project with the aim of determining and mapping the number and types of reusable timber components in the urban landscape. You will work with an international, interdisciplinary team of architects, urban planners and engineers.
- Pursuing a PhD, related to the research project, is actively encouraged.
- You will publish scientific articles related to the research project.
- You will carry out a limited number of teaching and research support tasks for the department of Building Sciences.
- Currently, funding is provided for 1 year. The research group will support the acquisition of additional funding.
Profile
- You hold a Master degree in architecture and/or engineering (building sciences) or you will have obtained it by the time you start work.
- You can demonstrate excellent study results.
- Your teaching competences are in line with the University of Antwerp’s educational vision.
- Your research qualities are in line with the faculty and university research policies.
- You act with attention to quality, integrity, creativity and cooperation.
- You are fluent in English (writing and speaking). A good knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
- Experience with GIS is a plus.
What we offer
- We offer a research position for a period of 1 year. Following a positive evaluation, and provided that additional funding is obtained, the scholarship can be extended.
- The planned start date is the 1st of September 2025 or as soon as possible after that date.
- Your monthly scholarship amount is calculated according to the scholarship amounts for doctoral scholarship holders.
- You will receive eco-cheques, Internet-connectivity allowance, and a bicycle allowance or a full reimbursement of public transport costs for commuting.
- You will do most of your work at Campus Groenenborger of the University of Antwerp in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
