Your role

The successful candidate will join the CritiX research group (https://www.uni.lu/snt-en/research-groups/CRITIX/) headed by Prof. Marcus Völp. The team focuses on critical information infrastructures and cyber-physical systems with the aim to protect our most sensitive and valuable assets. We look into systems in the small and how we can prepare them to withstand and operate safely and securely through accidental faults and targeted cyberattacks and how large scale constellations can achieve the same properties to protect for example, our energy grid.

We are looking for PhD candidates to join the team to contribute to our research agenda and to the excellence of the group and of SnT in general.

Successful candidates are expected to participate in the following activities:

  • Conduct highly innovative research in the intersection of cybersecurity and safety-critical systems, in dependability methods and solutions and in architectures and systems that support the development of such systems
  • Publish research results and present them at international conferences
  • Contribute to reports and research activities in support of project management
  • Guide M.Sc. students
  • Participate in a dedicated training plan

Your profile

Qualification: Master in Computer Science and/or Cybersecurity or equivalent degrees with expertise in at least one of the above areas (dependability, real-time systems, operating systems)

Experience in dependable systems, real-time and embedded systems and/or operating systems and the threats and attacks they are exposed to is highly valuable, systems development experience is an asset

Hard Skills: Strong programming skills are an asset

Soft Skills: Most importantly, we seek individuals who are curiosity-driven especially interested in interdisciplinary research, eager to continuously learn with critical thinking and explore new ideas while collaborating with a team

Language Skills: Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required. French, German or Luxembourgish is a plus
