The University of Luxembourg is looking for a Research Scientist in Quantitative Research Methods. The Research Scientist will be part of the Centre for Childhood and Youth Research (CCY) within the Department of Social Sciences. The CCY is a multidisciplinary team examining the conditions and opportunity structures of growing up in the context of social change and inequalities. It maintains strong collaborations with national and international institutes and organizations.

Your role

The Research Scientist (advanced postdoctoral researcher) will join the Youth Studies Research Group, led by Prof. Dr. R. Samuel, a dynamic team conducting social scientific research on various aspects of young people's lives.

The successful candidate will conduct and co-lead quantitative research within large-scale mixed-methods projects on topics such as youth and social inequalities, with a focus on, for example, digitality, well-being, or sustainability. Additionally, they will contribute to and coordinate other projects within the embedded foundational research of the Youth Studies Research Group.

Tasks:

  • Conduct and co-lead quantitative research within large-scale mixed-methods projects
  • Contribute to and coordinate primary data collection and analysis (e.g. surveys, survey experiments, field experiments)
  • Disseminate research findings through publications and conference presentations
  • Engage in policy-relevant analyses and communicate results to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with stakeholders within and beyond the university

Your profile

  • PhD in a relevant field (e.g. sociology)
  • Relevant (post)doctoral research experience
  • Expertise in data collection and advanced statistical analysis
  • Proficiency in data processing and analysis software (e.g. R, Stata, Python)
  • Willingness and ability to work with multiple teams
  • Excellent command of at least two of the following languages: English, French, German (written and spoken). Luxembourgish will be considered as an asset
