About us
The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.
The Luxembourg Centre for Socio-Environmental Systems strives to grow into an internationally recognised research hub for a sustainable and equitable world. Our goal is to help societies to transition to environmentally friendly and just conditions. At the core is the recognition that global environmental disruptions such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and resource depletion are closely linked with societal systems. To address these complex issues, we take a systemic approach and study the interconnectedness of human activities and the environment. Our mission is to develop sustainable, socially just, and environmentally friendly solutions by bridging disciplines and fostering collaboration between researchers, policymakers, and society.
The Economics of Sustainability (EoS) Group at LCSES is dedicated to advancing sustainability science through multi-scale economic analysis and modelling that incorporates the global-local-global interactions of agricultural input and output markets. Our team investigates the multifaceted relationships between economic systems and environmental change, with an emphasis on deploying innovative modelling frameworks for decision-making support at relevant scales.
Your role
We seek an innovative modeler working at the intersection of food system sustainability and biodiversity research. The successful candidate will lead investigations into the role of Biodiversity Production Mutualism (BPM) in facilitating the transition to more sustainable agricultural production systems across Europe.
The Postdoctoral researcher will leverage existing evidence and fine-scale modelling techniques to deepen our scientific understanding of how biodiversity is impacted by while at the same time impacting food production system. This research will in turn be used to evaluate policy initiatives that aim to facilitate the transition to sustainable food systems using a partial equilibrium economic model for the agricultural sector that incorporates market-mediated impacts of policy initiatives at multiple geographical scales.
