Fraunhofer IMS

The Fraunhofer IMS exists as an independent institute of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft since midyear 1984. In 1987, the staff moved into the specially constructed institute building that, according to rising requirements, was constructional extended in the years 1992, 2001 and 2005. The formation and development were carried out by the institute director of long duration Prof. Dr. Günter Zimmer. Since January 1^st2006, Prof. Dr. Anton Grabmaier has been in charge of our institute.

In accordance with the general principle of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft the Fraunhofer IMS carries out research, development and pilot fabrication of microelectronic solutions for industrial and public clients. Our second source of income consists of customers from the semiconductor industry.
